Liberals and moral relativists keep whining that the Ground Zero Mosque isn’t “actually” at Ground Zero. No, the mosque will not be at site of the World Trade Center. The mosque will be 0.3 miles away, a 3 minute walk away, in a building that was damaged by the 9/11 attack. Here is a screenshot of this “completely far away, and nowhere remotely near” mosque:
I even mapped the long route. It is called “Park51” because the mosque spans Park 45 to Park 51.
Now, here is where this gets bad. A church that was destroyed in the 9/11 attack asked for a permit from the city to rebuild, yet it was denied by the board. The mosque, somehow, got the permit to be built. Not only did the mosque get preferential treatment from the board, but the mosque has also received money in the “Rebuild Ground Zero” fund. This mosque, which is “not at Ground Zero”, got money fro the “Rebuild Ground Zero” fund. What fund is this? The “Rebuild Ground Zero” fund is from the government. Yes, the government has given the mosque money to be built, in the name of rebuilding Ground Zero. Separation of church and state apparently doesn’t apply to separation of mosque and state.
If this isn’t bad enough, the entire mosque is a symbolic mess. The mosque is going to be called the Cordoba House. Newt Gingrich said it best:
“Cordoba House” is a deliberately insulting term. It refers to Cordoba, Spain – the capital of Muslim conquerors, who symbolized their victory over the Christian Spaniards by transforming a church there into the world’s third-largest mosque complex… every Islamist in the world recognizes Cordoba as a symbol of Islamic conquest.
Not only is the Ground Zero mosque being built by Ground Zero, it is being given government funds to be built, the original owners of the property refuse to accept a higher offer, and the mosque is supposed to symbolize victory over Americans.
